Opportunities abound in 2011
This year is going to be busy…I have been asked to be involved in a number of exhibitions which is very exciting;
* 5 miles from the sea – at Level 17 Artspace curated by Geoff Tolchard ( a painter/teacher/former lad turned vegan, gym junkie, i-phone calorie counting app obsessed guy from work, NMIT)
* unnatural Naturally – curated by Mel Young and Lauren Simeoni to be exhibted at Velvet da Vinci, San Francisco
* TINKER, TAILOR, SOLDIER, SAILOR… 100 Years, 100 Women, 100 Stories, 100 Brooches – Artisan, Brisbane – curated by Kirsten Fitzpatrick
*Southern Charms – curated by Kevin Murray
I will try to post about these as they evolve… but here’s a little bit for starters.
For the Artisan show I have been asked to make a brooch in response to Bea Miles (1902-1973), a legendary, eccentric bag lady renowned for much anti-establishment behaviour most notably for refusing to pay for public transport and taxi’s in Sydney…I am really keen to get this project underway…I wonder why they matched me up with her????? More on Bea later.

…and for ‘unnatural, Naturally’ I have received a bag ‘o’ goodies from which to make a piece of jewellery or simply be inspired. Below is a friend attempting to organise a sculptural installation with the loot on the kitchen table last night…after a few glasses of red bubbles it all seemed terribly hilarious.
…more to come!

I think we got pretty similar stuff in our packages. If you don’t use your onion you can send it my way!
